Meadowlark Extension Master Gardener Program

The Meadowlark District Extension Master Gardener (EMG) Program is a volunteer organization designed to provide the public with research-based horticultural information.

EMG's come from all walks of life but their common bond is a love of gardening and sharing information throughout the community. EMG's receive a basic training in the disciplines of horticulture. Training consists of 40 to 50 hours of instruction in all aspects of horticulture.

EMG's then volunteer in projects to help Extension promote its educational mission. Volunteers are involved statewide with a variety of community education projects such as:

  • Demonstration gardens
  • Classes at community gardens
  • Gardening information at farmer's markets
  • Youth garden education in schools
  • Local garden tours

Our current training schedule can be found here.
